1987 — A Mini 6.50 is christened “Tilt” after its sponsor for the double-handed Mini-Transat from France, via the Canary Islands, to Martinique. Alex Schneiter wins the first stage alongside Patrick Firmenich and finishes second overall. A year later, he wins the Mini Fastnet and is named Swiss Skipper of the Year.
1992 — Using his Whitbread Round the World Race training as a helmsman, Alex Schneiter tackles one of the toughest races in the sport: La Solitaire du Figaro. He finishes 22nd.
2001 — Alex Schneiter finishes 8th in the Fastnet Race at the helm of a 60footer and a year later races the Transat AG2R with Philippe Cardis from Lorient, via Madera to St Barths, finishing 11th.
