A successful Oceania championship as the perfect warm-up before the 49er worlds

4 February 2020    Décision 35

Sébastien and Lucien continue their winter on the other side of the world. After finishing 2019 in New Zealand, they started 2020 in Australia. Good training sessions were organised alongside the best sailors in the world, before the start of the regattas. At the end of January, the Oceania Championship served as a rehearsal before the Worlds. The Swiss team finished 11th, after a very windy week in Geelong.

“We sailed pretty well overall during this week in Geelong, but did two big mistakes (an UFD and a capsize). We’re happy finishing 11th overall, with the same fleet that we’ll face at the Worlds next week. We know we can do better than this so we’re fully motivated for the Worlds ! We had very shifty and windy conditions during the regatta, and lighter wind at training!”

Follow them at the upcoming Worlds in Geelong (AUS), February 9-15
