After one year without sailing the GC32, Team Tilt got 10 training days to find back its marks onboard. The GC32 World Championship started today in Lagos, Portgual, with perfect conditions : 10-15 knots and sunshine to foil during the five races. Against some of the world’s best sailors such as Ben Ainslie and Franck Cammas, Team Tilt is 7th overall in the provisional ranking. Oman Air is the overnight leader while five more races are scheduled each day until Sunday.
“We still need some training on the boat, compared to the other teams”, said main sail trimmer Glenn Ashby. “But the points are tight, and there are still 3 days to go.”
“Today’s results confirm that we need more hours on this boat”, adds coach Tanguy Cariou. “We sailed ok, but didn’t race well. We didn’t do good starts for example, our level is better than this one !”
