Team Tilt sailed yesterday for the first time the foiling AC45- the boat that will be used during the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. While Sébastien and Lucien were racing the Trofeo Princesa Sofia in Palma de Majorca (ESP) last week (finishing 19th/59), part of the team arrived in Bermuda to prepare Emirates Team New Zealand’s boat for the training session. The rest of the crew joined them on Sunday; an important step for this project !
Team Tilt has the chance to benefit from the partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand, and use their boat and facilities on site. “The AC45F feels much bigger than the GC”, said Sébastien after the first training. “It’s very physical too! But the maneuvers are close to what we’ve trained on the GC32.”
This week enables also Team Tilt to take its marks in Bermuda. “It’s great to be here”, adds the skipper. “ETNZ team members are very nice and helpful with us. A huge THANK YOU to all ETNZ, who have been perfect with us. We saw yesterday Artemis and Team France training with the AC50, it’s beautiful!”
Team Tilt trains there until Sunday, hoping to be able to sail the 7 days allowed by the RBYAC rules.
