The first GC32 Championship was launched on Tuesday, February 28. The 11 foiling multihulls sailed 5 races, in a fleet composed of Extreme Sailing Series & GC32 Racing Tour boats.
Team Tilt has been training in Oman since several days, with the young crew preparing the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. Young guns that were in good shape as they won the first race of the day ! Sébastien Schneiter’s team finishes the day fourth overall, only 1 point behind the second (SAP) and third (Alinghi). Oman Air leads after the five races sailed in 10-12 knots.
« We’re very happy to have started the championship, and above all with good wind conditions », says Tanguy Cariou. « We did some good things but have to improve others. We’re not consistent enough, which explains why we can’t keep the rhythm of the leaders. »
Sébastien Schneiter (21) was leading the young team. « It was our first regatta with a 100% Youth America’s Cup team, it’s a good start », tells Sébastien. « We know we can win some places, and we’ll work hard in the next days! »
